Day 2 - BOSTON – MAINE COAST – BAR HARBOR (2 nights)
Heading north, travel through Portsmouth, New Hampshire, into the state of Maine. Then journey along the state's scenic shoreline, offering a glimpse into its rich past in whaling, shipbuilding and lobstering. The quaint villages along the way typify quintessential New England. Later, cross a narrow spit of land to Mount Desert Island and the seaside town of Bar Harbor for a two-night stay. This evening, join your fellow travelers for a Maine Lobster dinner.

This morning, explore beautiful Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park, the only national park in New England. Its wooded roads offer views of quiet ponds and rocky beaches, highlighted by the blaze of autumn colours. A stop at the top of Cadillac Mountain provides you with sweeping views of the park, Bar Harbor and the islands of Frenchman Bay. The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore Bar Harbor – perhaps take an optional nature cruise, or simply relax in this quaint village.

Leaving the Maine coast, turn inland and travel through the colorful woodlands of maples, birch and sumac. Entering New Hampshire, stop at Pinkham Notch for a gondola ride to the top of Wildcat Mountain with incredible views of the White Mountains. Spend the night in the town of North Conway, a popular year-round resort. After dinner, enjoy a presentation on the flora and fauna of the White Mountains.

Day 5 - NORTH CONWAY – LUDLOW (2 nights)
More breathtaking vistas await you today as you travel through New Hampshire into Vermont, New England’s most rural state, where tiny villages and remote farm houses are framed by the striking autumn colors. Visit the Simon Pearce glassblowing factory situated in a historic woolen mill and watch and learn about glassblowing. Travel on to your resort situated in the majestic Green Mountains for a two-night stay.

After a photo stop at Quechee Gorge, visit the Rockefellers' renowned Billings Farm & Museum, a working dairy farm and farm life museum. Next is the quintessential Vermont village of Woodstock often called “the prettiest small town in America.” There is time to enjoy the romantic charm of this lovely New England village with its covered bridge, quaint streets and stately homes surrounding the village green. Leaving Woodstock, stop in Plymouth Notch to visit President Calvin Coolidge’s childhood homestead and where he was sworn into presidency while vacationing. Return to Ludlow in the late afternoon where the remainder of the day is at leisure.

Cross into western Massachusetts and enjoy the spectacular autumn colors on a scenic journey through the rolling countryside of the Berkshires. Later, stop at the Norman Rockwell Museum to learn more about the area's most famous artist. View the artist's personal artifacts, mementos and world-renowned images depicting the surrounding New England community and its residents. Upon arrival in Springfield, enjoy a farewell dinner with newfound friends.

Your journey this morning takes you into the heart of Revolutionary War history with a visit to the towns of Lexington and Concord, made famous in Longfellow's poem about “Paul Revere's Ride.” It was in these two small villages that in April 1775 the first shots of the American Revolution were fired. You also see the Minuteman Statue, Concord Bridge and Lexington Green, before returning to Boston. A complimentary transfer is provided to Boston International Airport and the tour hotel in Boston for passengers extending their stay.
Please do not schedule flights before 4 p.m.
